CIRA is currently seeking a skilled Technical Documentation Specialist who produces high quality technical documentation, has an appreciation of what it takes to succeed in an entrepreneurial high performance IT environment, but who is seeking an established organization with a higher calling that truly values its employees. 

 

What you’ll do:

 

As a Technical Documentation Specialist at CIRA you will be responsible for producing all documentation relating to our products including user manuals and online help.   

 

You are the person who can take the technical lingo spoken or documented by development, and turn it into something that is clear, concise and understandable to end users of the system.  You understand your audiences and adjust the voice and level of technicality or generalization, appropriately.  Finally, you’re an excellent communicator and a highly effective collaborator with a vision on how to get things done, the right way.

 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Creates, edits, and reviews instructional documentation in the form of technical user manuals, system guides, online help and standard operating procedures
  • Researches and translates technical information into documents for non-technical and technical users
  • Gathers technical requirements to produce products that are clear and concise and adhere to the company documentation standards
  • Recommends and implements new or updated formats responsively to technical and customer requirements
  • Collaborates to analyze business, information needs and functional requirements to create user stories and other functional documentation.

Experience, Knowledge and Skills:

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Degree or diploma in a technical field or equivalent combination of education and technical writing experience
  • 5 to 7 years’ experience creating technical documentation within a software development environment using Agile methodologies.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the proven ability to effectively interface with members of various teams including: product managers, software developers, testers and senior managers
  • Proficiency in English is essential, French language skills are an asset but not required
  • Experience using Madcap Flare, Build Automation integration
  • Experience with localization/technical translation
  • Experience with JIRA and Confluence
