What you’ll do:

As a key member of the CIRA IT Ops team, the Senior System Administrator is responsible for providing support, administration and maintenance of CIRA’s Internet domain name registration system, the global .CA Domain Name System (DNS) infrastructure and CIRA's high availability Information Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure with an emphasis on system and application administration. 

  • Provide day-to-day support, administration and management of all related registry system servers, systems, storage, security, network and applications.
  • Managing registry application cluster builds through scripting and automation.
  • Provide standard ICT operations functions for CIRA’s infrastructure including incident management, change management, problem management, inventory management, IT continuity and other ITIL disciplines as adopted by CIRA.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate and up to date infrastructure monitoring, documentation and diagrams.
  • Participate in an agile based workflow and attending daily stand up.
  • Participate in a rotating 24/7 on call schedule.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager, Operations and the Sr. Systems Administrator/Team Lead.

What you bring:

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in a high availability large-scale UNIX systems environment.
  • A minimum of 4 year experience with the following systems and applications:
    • Red Hat operating systems (or CentOS)
    • Red Hat Satellite server (patching, rpm building/signing, server builds)
    • Application Servers and Proxies (Oracle WebLogic or JBoss - clustering, high availability, messaging)
    • Web server installation and support (apache, nginx, etc.)
    • Scripting (Perl, Shell, Python, Ruby, etc.)
    • VMware virtualization (DRS & HA)
  • Proficiency in English is essential, French language skills are an asset.
