Currently, we are ramping up our efforts for our AJISS program, Canada’s largest in-service support program working in partnership with the Canadian Armed Forces, specifically the Royal Canadian Navy.



The AOPS (Arctic Offshore Patrol Ship) JSS (Joint Support Ship) IService Support program will allow Thales to leverage its Canadian expertise in project management, systems engineering and integrated logistics support to lead the development of a new Canadian supply chain that will offer comprehensive in-service support for all systems and equipment of these fleets over their operational lifetime, ensuring they are mission-ready, on time, every time, from coast to coast to coast.



To support our development, we are seeking a Configuration Management Lead to join us on a full time basis in our Defence and Security office in Ottawa. The Configuration Management Lead is to provide leadership, functional & operational management of the configuration Management discipline for programs. 


Main Responsibilities

  • Interaction with the customer to clarify or adjust configuration management requirements;
  • Management of defined baselines and customer configuration management related requirements for a program/product line;
  • Creation and maintenance of the Configuration Management Plan (CMP) for the program/product lines;
  • Working with sub-contractors and suppliers to:

oassess their configuration management capability;

omanage the flow-down of configuration management requirements via a defined statement of work (SOW);

oaudit the implementation of configuration management requirements by sub-contractors and suppliers.

  • Working with engineering staff to determine the choice of using the defined criteria of configuration items; and of items to be controlled;
  • Definition of, and organizing and steering the Configuration Control Board (CCB) including pre and post CCB activities (including clerical work);
  • Management of Contract, Functional, Allocated and Product Configuration Baselines (CBL, FBL, ABL, PBL) for the program/product line;
  • The provision to the customer, under project management control, of configuration management deliverables;
  • Verification and audit of the contents and integrity of the CMS;
  • The provision of configuration management support of engineering and program phase reviews and milestone events;
  • Ensuring that the program/product lines are fully and comprehensively managed within the CMS;
  • Conduct of Functional and Physical Configuration Audits (FCA, PCA) for the program/product line;
  • Line management of the staff  in the configuration management team;
  • Coordinate information exchange mechanisms related to CM and DM with the Customer and with Subcontractors;
  • Manage team to configure and administer CM and DM related tools and information.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Two year college level certificate in computer technology or engineering degree
  • 8-10 years’ experience in Configuration Management, Configuration Standards and Processes
  • Resource Management experience
  • Proficient in the use of Word, Excel,
  • DOORS, ClearCase, ClearQuest, UCM,
  • Visual Studio, Sharepoint, Scripting
  • (Perl, DOS, Shell) and database tools (e.g. SQL, Access)
