Position Overview:

Abbott Point of Care’s Manufacturing Execution System (MES) Team requires a Database Administrator.  The database administrator role provides in-depth technical expertise of database management items; including database architecture, installation, and technical support of DBMS software.  



  • Review, validate and enhance logical database designs
  • Define and implement physical databases
  • Perform database administration activities (e.g., modifications, enhancements, expansions)
  • Conduct production database performance monitoring and capacity planning
  • Install, test and upgrade database releases and associated products
  • Evaluate and recommend new database software, utilities, and tools
  • Diagnose database-related issues (e.g., database outages, application performance)
  • Provide technical support for disaster recovery design and testing
  • Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures
  • Miscellaneous other duties as may be assigned.


Required Education and Experience

  • Minimum of five years experience as a DBA in the design, testing, implementation and administration of management systems database.  Technical training including Database Administration, Performance and Tuning, and Backup and Recovery.      
  • University Bachelor Degree in Computer Science (or a related discipline )
