Test Automation Coop Student - 4/8Month

A Co-op Student is required on the Test Automation Team. The Test Automation Team is responsible for the planning, development, integration, and support of test automation initiatives across all engineering programs within our Air & Naval Systems division.

The Test Automation Engineering Co-op Student will carry out various test automation and software engineering activities, including requirements analysis, tool evaluations, infrastructure development, prototyping, design, implementation, integration, test, and support of test automation solutions. The selected candidate will work in a fast-paced, highly collaborative team environment, with peers within their team and also from across other programs. They will get the opportunity to experience a challenging and diverse variety of tasks through the entire software development life cycle.

Typical Duties

The responsibilities and range of activities may vary, but in general will include:

  • Participate in team planning exercises;
  • Participate in program evaluation and requirement analysis process;
  • Evaluate and prototype test automation tools and make recommendations;
  • Design, implementation, integration, and testing of test automation solutions;
  • Build and maintain infrastructure to support test automation activities;
  • Document processes and best practices to support training initiatives;
  • Perform code and documentation reviews;
  • Presentations and demonstrations to team members and peers from other teams; and
  • Work collaboratively with team members to resolve issues and progress tasks.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Disciplined approach to software engineering;
  • Experience with Linux environment, including command-line interface and bash scripting; and
  • Ability to analyze complex issues, develop and recommend options, and implement solutions.

Assets

  • Desire to work in the design, development, or testing of large scale military software systems;
  • Experience with test automation frameworks such as Robot Framework;
  • Development in scripting languages such as Python;
  • Development in programming languages such as C#, Java, C++, ADA;
  • Experience researching, installing, configuring, and learning to use new tools;
  • Experience working with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Jenkins, Docker, ClearCase;
  • Working knowledge of MS Office tool suite including Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint; and
  • Experience working with simulation tools.

Education

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or College Diploma in Engineering (Computer, Software), Computer Science, or equivalent.
