Canada’s Centre of Excellence in Next Generation Networks (CENGN), is a consortium of large multinational companies, academic and research leaders dedicated to accelerating the commercialization of next generation communications solutions. CENGN is a not-for-profit company funded in part by the Canadian Government’s Networks of Centres of Excellence (NCE) and Centres of Excellence for Commercialization and Research (CECR) awards, as well as ongoing funding from our industry members. Our members include: Cisco, Mitel, EXFO, Fujitsu, GENBAND, Invest Ottawa, Juniper, Nokia, Rogers, TELUS, Wind River, and Zayo Canada. CENGN’s internationally recognized testing centre employs interoperability between multiple software and hardware products. Our mission is to create a viable Ontario and Canadian eco-system to facilitate commercialization in the next generation of networks by providing value to Small Medium Enterprise (SME), Industry, Academia, and Government.
We are located in the Kanata Research Park in Ottawa. The staff is comprised of senior leaders with significant experience in the ICT industry, and broad mix of students and graduates including interns, co-ops, undergrads, Masters, PhDs, and new graduates.
CENGN is focussed on technology areas such as Open Standards, Software Defined Networks (SDN), Network Function Virtualization (NFV), Internet of things (IoT) and Cloud Infrastructure. We are at the leading edge in the development and deployment of Wireless Technology, 5G, Autonomous Vehicles, Broadband Internet, and Cyber Security.

The Opportunity :
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual for the Centre of Excellence in Next Generation Networks (CENGN’s) Business Development and Marketing team. Reporting to the VP, Business Development and Marketing, the candidate will serve as the point of contact and authority for their department ensuring optimal service to CENGN’s customer base, which includes CENGN Members, enterprises and service providers that consume CENGN services as well as Small Medium Enterprises whose products and services CENGN helps to commercialize.
The role will necessitate a mix of strategy, sales account management, business development and a strong network of industry contacts. The ideal candidate will also have a strong technology background, preferably having worked at a company focused on advanced networking.
Due to the rapid evolution of the emerging network technologies for which CENGN is in the forefront; the Senior Business Development Manager plays an important role in defining and delivering CENGN’s services, which will continue to evolve. The candidate will account for the following:
