As our   Data Protection Officer (DPO)   you will own all security efforts and be expected to manage our data protection risk and privacy compliance. Reporting to the CTO, you will foster a strong culture of adherence to data privacy and protection. Your responsibilities will include, advising on our compliance, addressing data privacy requirements, managing the reputational risk that can arise from data protection mistakes, acting as a point of contact with supervisory authorities and data subjects. This role will also create policies that enforce compliance and deliver training to our staff to increase awareness of data protection measures. Furthermore, the DPO will need to be the main point of contact for any internal data privacy, procedures and assessment communications.   What you’ll get to do: Promote a data privacy culture within Fullscript, by advocating best practices, advising employees on how to deliver compliance and informing key stakeholders about their obligation to adhere to those laws when dealing with personal data. Educating the company and employees on important compliance requirements Training staff involved in data processing. Conducting internal audits (HIPAA, PCI, PIPEDA)  to ensure compliance and address potential issues proactively. Serving as the point of contact between the company and Government Supervisory Authorities. Monitoring performance and providing advice on the impact of data protection efforts. Maintaining comprehensive records of all data processing activities conducted by the company, including the purpose of all processing activities, which must be made public on request. Interfacing with data subjects to inform them about how their data is being used, their rights to have their personal data erased, and what measures the company has put in place to protect their personal information. implementation of procedures and introduction of tooling to facilitate compliance related exercises within the Company (i.e. request for information, breach notification etc.). working with the DevOps team to ensure compliance monitoring is in place. What you’ll bring: The following skills are required in the DPO role: Mandatory Expert knowledge of data protection law and practices specifically North American (HIPAA, PIPEDA, Digital Privacy Act) and a minimum knowledge of Europe (GDPR) Expert knowledge of Information Security and/or Information Assurance related practices, controls, and safeguards Experience in drafting and writing policies related to use of technology as it relates to the protection of private data Ability to write and deliver employee training, awareness programmes, and other materials Ability to handle confidential information Experience in systems auditing, attestation audits and assessment/mitigation of risk Experience in risk analysis and construction of Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Plans. Excellent communication skills and management skills and the ability to interface easily with internal staff at all levels, stakeholders, C-level, executives and external entities. Excellent conflict resolution skills and ability to work in a highly collaborative, team-oriented environment. Nice to have Certified Internal Auditing designation.
