The Position Ericsson is world-leading in hardware and software for processing of radio data in base stations (e.g. 5G, LTE or WCDMA). The radio data processing is a very computational intensive task, with hard real-time requirements on microseconds level. The computation is typically done in Digital Signal Processors (DSP´s) with supporting hardware accelerators. Ericsson have been developing and maintaining its own multi-core DSP processor architecture, with on-chip hardware accelerators, for more than 15 years. The goal of the proposed MSc Coop work is to select, implement and evaluate a set of machine learning (ML) algorithms on Ericsson’s HW platform. The ML algorithms selected should be suitable for the target hardware and the type of applications which are expected to be running there. Thus, the ML algorithms should preferably have good precision, limited and/or deterministic computational requirements, little latency and and small memory footprint. Early on a literature study on ML algorithms for resource constrained HW platforms should be made. One result of the MSc thesis should be a well-documented SW library holding the implemented ML algorithms. However, even though the implementation will be targeting Ericsson’s HW platform, the results and conclusions from the work should be general enough to be applicable on other types of resource constrained HW platforms. Ideal Qualifications Education Requirements Minimum: Currently studying Master of Science or Engineering in Machine Learning and Data Science and have Bachelor's Computer Science, Computer Engineering, You have experience applying ML algorithms. you have experience with C/C++ and Python you have Canadian PR or Citizenship Familiarity with x86 architecture is a plus You are dedicated to producing high quality and creative results Essential soft-skills are required for this position: Excellent communication skills (verbal, presentation, written) Ability to collaborate across a globally diverse team and multiple interests Working environment Beautiful, modern campus with bright, open office space Lots of other co-op students to get to know / consult Ericsson sponsored co-op events/outings Onsite foosball table and ping pong room Discounted local gym membership Collaborative, helpful work teams where knowledge sharing is valued and plenty of help is provided Adjustable desks you can sit or stand at Lots of activities for employees to participate in (i.e. site wide hackathon) In Top-20 best employers in Canada (Forbes Magazine, 2016) On site cafeteria 2016 Winner of the Hunger Hero Humanitarian award from UN World Food Program for Ericsson’s unique Ericsson Response Emergency Telecom Community involvement Annual Sponsor of the CN Cycle charity event for CHEO Free parking.
